Bora

Based on true events, the novel follows a mother named Yamuna who works a grueling job carrying heavy sacks (bora) of sand to pay for her son's education. Tragically, her sacrifices are met with absolute abandonment; the narrative builds up to a gripping social critique when she is eventually found cast away inside a literal sack underneath a bridge by her own family. The book highlights the dark side of modern societal shifts, individualism, and the heartbreaking mistreatment of the elderly in Nepal
