Description
The novel follows the tragic downfall of Ranajit Malla, the final king of Bhaktapur. It chronicles his tactical mistakes, shifting alliances, and eventual surrender to Gorkhali King Prithvi Narayan Shah during the unification of Nepal. The title Ranahar translates to "Defeat in War," contrasting ironically with the protagonist's name, Ranajit, which means "Victor of War".
